Collection: Bodegones mix carboncillo, Conté y pastel

This still life series springs from a hauntingly everyday observation: the accumulation of objects that, once they’ve served their purpose, seem condemned to oblivion. Empty bottles, crumpled bags, worn-down pencils, dented cans… humble elements that have lost their immediate utility, yet still retain a presence all their own, an unexpected beauty.

I wanted to pause with them, to look unhurriedly, to recognize in their wounds, their distorted shapes, their wear, a silent aesthetic. It is not a polished or glossy beauty, but the fragile beauty of what has lived, of what refuses to vanish completely.

I approached each piece with a restrained, direct technique—letting expressive strokes, broken color, and material reveal that precarious balance between existence and abandonment. More than representing objects, I aim for these still lifes to become a visual meditation: What remains when usefulness is spent? What stories continue to speak through these remnants?

In these frozen scenes, the everyday becomes metaphor. A metaphor for our times, for the way we consume and forget, and—paradoxically—for our ongoing search for meaning in the smallest things.
