In Still Life 040, I brought together a roll of toilet paper, a dried bouquet, and a used jar, aiming to create a scene where everyday objects reveal their vulnerability and hidden poetry. I worked in Conté charcoal, allowing loose lines and vibrant strokes to convey both the fragility of the materials and the inevitable passage of time. I’m not interested in beautifying these elements: I want to show their journey toward oblivion, their slow dissolution in daily life. As with the rest of the series, this piece offers a contemplative look at what we consume, discard, and often forget ever existed.
