This study is the result of a quick yet precise approach to a figure that, by tradition, embodies stillness and presence. I wanted to see what could be held with just a few lines, how much information was necessary for the figure to still manifest as "Virgin" in the collective imagination. I did not seek a finished piece, but rather an open evocation, allowing the stroke to breathe. What interests me here is that sense of the drawing being in transit, still under construction. This structural lightness gives it life and keeps it in motion, as if it were still thinking through its final form.
