In Study S 2014-1, I work with the immediacy of the stroke to capture the essence of an everyday object: a worn-out stuffed animal, full of history. I do not aim to idealize it, but to preserve its fragility, its slight twist, its presence marked by use. The line is not precise, nor does it intend to be: it is a gesture that embraces the tenderness and melancholy of what has been lived.
