This drawing is part of a small series in which I worked with the image of a toy cart filled with stuffed animals and piled-up objects. I focused on the hanging duck, flattened over and over by the weight of other memories, transformed into a symbol of worn tenderness and silent persistence. I wanted the ink and pencil strokes to be light, almost fragile, while the charcoal hints at the shadow of wear. Each small change in the position of the objects, each difference between the two pieces in the series, reflects how memory also gets flattened, moved, and transformed with the passage of time.
