In Old Woman Asking, I wanted to capture a simple gesture filled with human weight: the moment when an elderly woman, seated on the street, extends a container to ask for help. I painted this small piece with quick strokes and highly expressive colors, aiming for the figure to almost blend into her surroundings. The yellow of the container stands out like a silent cry within the composition — a call that cuts through the scene and connects directly with the viewer. To me, this work speaks of fragility, but also of the persistent dignity found at the margins of the city.
